The New 31DC Day 18 - Oldest Untried

Well whether this is my oldest untried, I'm not entirely sure.  Is it super old?  Yes.  That counts for something right?  I have worn this lots of times, but I consider "untried" as not blogged about.  I figure if you all haven't seen it then it doesn't count.  lol

I did a gradient with China Glaze Kiwi Cool-ada and Love & Beauty blue/green.  Then I added China Glaze Cracked Concrete and a top coat.  Nice right?  I think I should have mattified it, but I needed this to try quickly so I could make dinner.  ha.

The New 31DC Day 17 - New Technique to Me

I am super duper excited for today's challenge post.  The technique I chose to do is galaxy nails!  I thought since galaxy prints are so "in" right now, I wanted to do them on my nails.
Oh yeah!  I LOVE these so much.  I don't ever want to take it off.  Like....ever!  I can't believe I've gone so long without actually doing this technique.  I think I tried it once before, but I can't remember what happened with that.
WHAT I USED:
Zoya Storm - black base color
Zoya Stacy
Zoya Charisma
Zoya Zara
Love & Beauty Blue/Green
Sally Hansen White Tip
Yeah that's the best I can do.  Are you diggin' this look?

The New 31DC Day 16 - Color Opposites

Welcome back to the New 31 Day Challenge.  I've had a blast so far and have been really inspired to come up with the best manis possible for you all.  I am so looking forward to the rest of the challenge.  I am completely clueless as to what I'm going to do for half of these.  lol
I chose to use the opposites blue and orange.  I thought that was a little too "blah" though so I added some gold for a little flare.  I thought about doing a color block mani, but I've been really into gradients lately.  And then who doesn't love polka dots.  I mean, come on!  (:

WHAT I USED:
Ulta Blue Streak - blue
Zoya Paz - orange
Ulta High Roller - gold

The New 31DC Day 15 - Watercolor

Woot!  We are halfway through this amazing challenge, and I'm still going strong.  I'm really proud of the work I've done so far.  I really want to know which post was your favorite so far, and which one are you looking forward to seeing?
Uuuummmmm...I don't know.  I had a hell of a time trying to make this happen.  I watched multiple tutorials and just couldn't get it right.  The brush I was using just wasn't working.  So I had to improvise and I just used a Q-tip dipped in polish remover to spread the color around.
How did I do on the frames?  I'm terrible at free hand work.  I've also attempted frame nails before and they just never looked right.  These are decent I guess.

WHAT I USED:
Sally Hansen White Tip
popBeauty Flamingo Hollar - pink
Zoya Paz - orange
China Glaze In the Limelight - green
Ulta Blue Streak
Zoya Charisma

The New 31DC Day 14 - Stamping

I seriously considered not posting anything today or at least skipping the challenge and just doing my own thing.  Reason being it's my mom's birthday today.  She passed away in 2001 and so, of course, it's always tough no matter how long it's been.  Then I thought I didn't want to let any of my readers down by skipping.  Instead I did a manicure that I knew she would love.
Purple is one of her favorite colors so I did a gradient using Zoya Dannii, Zoya Julieanne, and then a pop of blue with Zoya Ibiza.  Then I used Bundle Monster plate bm-205 to stamp some pretty butterflies.  I used butterflies because it's such a beautiful creature just like my mom. (:  We even put butterflies on her headstone symbolizing each one of her children.

I had a tough time choosing just a few photos so I chose them all.  lol  Oh yeah the stamping color is Sephora by OPI Don't Feed the Hand Models, and then I mattified it so it would pop.

If you think this mani looks familiar, you are correct.  I have done one very similar to this before using different purples and a different stamping color.  Like I said, this was more for my mom than for the challenge.

The New 31 DC Day 13 - Cheer Yourself Up

OMG, I've been waiting all day for midnight to come so I could post this.  lol The type of manicure that cheers me up is something that's quick, pretty, and colorful!  So of course I chose to use glitter...lots of glitter.  My inspiration come from THIS post from the Nailside.  She's so good at everything it makes me sick. (:
So?  Are you happy yet?  I am!  This is definitely a super easy mani.  I used two coats of my favorite white polish and then three swipes of each glitter polish.  Add a quick dry top coat, and you're done.  This whole manicure took me about 5 minutes.
WHAT I USED:
Sally Hansen White Tip - 2 coats for base
China Glaze Ruby Pumps - red
Hard Candy Fabuluxe - magenta
Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter - pink
Ulta Starstruck - white glitter
popBeauty Aquatic Glitz - blue/purple
China Glaze Sour Apple - green
China Glaze Dorothy Who? - blue
So yes, I did say the whole mani took me about 5 minutes.  That obviously did not include choosing the polish, opening each bottle, and prepping the nail with a base coat.  Enjoy it! (:

The New 31DC Day 12 - Tape

Oooh I haven't done a tape mani in awhile so thanks to the challenge, I get to have some fun.
I don't really have much to say about this mani except oooohhh!  I feel like it's a "funky french" type of thing. I could have used a lighter polish for the tip of the nail, but I wanted something to pop and I couldn't find my gold polish...again.  This is the 3rd time during this challenge that I "lost" it.
WHAT I USED:
Jesse's Girl Julie G Cupcake Frosting - pink
Jesse's Girl Julie G Fashion Friday - purple
Zoya Storm - black
I really love how this looks.  I love how the pink and purple look together.  They look like they are melting together in a non-gradient kind of way.  Does that make sense?  lol

The New 31DC Day 11 - Splatter

Splatter manis are probably one of my favorite techniques.  I've done it dozens of times, and I just can't get enough.  My favorite part is that every nail looks completely different every time.  Let's get started.
Oh yeah!  Of course I used my favorite base color for splatters, Hard Candy Beetle.  I think pairing this gorgeous duochrome with creme polish just adds that "wow factor".  I think I've used this polish as a splatter base at least 4 times that I can recall.  What can I say?  I'm a creature of habit.

WHAT I USED:
Hard Candy Beetle - 2 coats for base color
Color Club Sweet Pea - lavender splatter
Sephora by OPI - Don't Feed the Hand Models - nude splatter

Oh and just for the hell of it, I want to show you my very first splatter.  The photo is terribly blurry, but it from when my blog was a baby and I didn't have a fancy camera.  You can still get the gist though.

The New 31DC Day 10 - Geometric

So I know this is going to sound weird, but I'm not really sure what geometric nails are.  I know what geometric print is in terms of fashion and apparel, but I didn't understand how to put that on my nails.  I think I did a pretty fine job though.  Check it out!
Yep!  I love 'em.  I bet you think I used tape too.  Nope!  This was free hand.  That may not seem like a big win doing this free hand, but I don't have a steady hand at all.  Making a straight line with a nail art brush can be a huge challenge for someone like me.  I tried to use colors that I thought would look nice for Spring since it's just around the corner.
WHAT I USED:
China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy - peachy pink
Color Club Sweet Pea - lavender
Zoya Charisma - magenta
Kiss Nail Art - blue stripes

This is such a bright, fun mani.  I just can't stop staring.  I think it gives me the illusion of a great hand tan too!  lol.

The New 31DC Day 9 - Saran Wrap

He Everyone.  Welcome back to the New 31 Day Challenge.  Today is exciting because it's saran wrap nails!  This is my very first (and maybe last) attempt at this technique.  Why my last?  I don't think I really like the effect.  I'm sure it has a lot to do with my polish choice, but I don't know.  I guess we'll see depending on everyone's reaction.
So here they are.  I was told that they look like "fine Italian marble" from a friend.

WHAT I USED:
Julep Mindy - base color
Ulta High Roller - tough to see gold shimmer
Zoya Julieanne - purple marble
So yeah that's it.  I guess I thought the purple would look more...well, purple.  Julieanne just doesn't work well when there aren't multiple coats.
