Glow in the Dark Glitter Mani

I didn't really know what else to call this.  It's green, holo, GITD, glitter...idk.  There is a lot going on.  Let's look at it.
I am kinda sad at how it came out and the fact that I didn't take a photo before I applied the GITD top coat.  I used two coats of UO Green Holo and then two coats of Cover Band Stick 'n' Stones which is the black and white glitter.  I didn't have to place any of the larger glitter btw.  They worked out all on their own.  Then I applied the OPI Zom-body to Love and since it's got some green pigment, it basically put a frosty green layer over the whole mani which takes away from the holo effect.  I wanted you all to see it like that but I wasn't thinking.
This is my best attempt at a glow photo.  I had to use my camera tripod in the dark and hold my breath so it was clear but I guess that didn't work.  At least you can see the glow.
I think this was such a fun mani that anyone can definitely wear for the Halloween season but it's also not too literal.  I mean if you wore it any other time, no one would think twice.  What do you think?  Would you wear this mani any time besides Halloween?  Let me know in the comments below.  (:

Urban Outfitter Ombre Sets

Afternoon!  I've noticed over the past past couple of months that Urban Outfitters has fun polish goodies from nail art stickers and brushes (which I own and are awesome) to these ombre sets I picked up for just $10 each.  Sadly I don't think they have them on their site anymore but I saw them in-store and on clearance I believe.
They don't have names but this one is a grey/silver combination with a scattered holo glitter.
This one is a combination of different teal/turquoise colors and one glitter as well.
My pinky has a steely grey satin polish.  My ring finger is more of a pewter silver satin polish  My middle finger has a light grey creme polish that looks a lot like Zoya Dove.  My pointer finger is a metallic silver polish with silver glitter bits.  And my thumb (excuse the staining) is the scattered holo glitter.  As far as these colors being cohesive in some nail art, I think they would work, but they don't look very ombre to me.  I think the glitter would be best layered over each one and not used as a part of the ombre look.
The teal set really surprised me because the colors are much more vibrant than they look in the bottles and they were matte!  That was totally unexpected and I love them.  I added a top coat for you all as well eventhough I prefer them matte.  ;)
My pinky has a darker teal creme polish.  My ring finger is a turquoise/teal creme with silver shimmer/glitter bits.  My middle finger is a turquoise creme with a slight shimmer and maybe my fave of the set.  My pointer has a lighter teal creme polish.  My thumb is a scattered holo glitter in a shimmery teal base.  This whole set really reminds of mermaids.  It's so pretty.  Again I think these would work in some nail art together, but as far as being ombre, they are not.  Maybe if I switched the colors on my middle and ring finger they would blend better, but I just used them as they were packaged.

Each set has it's ups and downs apart from the color/finish selection.  Each polish only needed two coats except both glitters I used three.  The teal/turquoise set had fabulous formulas for being tiny, no-name bottles.  The darkest shade from the grey/silver set was goopy and had a few application issues but it self-leveled.  The color on my ring finger from the grey/silver set was actually almost dried out in the bottle.  The lid wasn't closed all the way.   /:  Luckily I was still able to use it and it was more manageable than I thought it would be.

So will I be doing another ombre mani with these?  Probably not.  Will I be using these for some awesome nail art?  YES!  I feel like $10 is a bit much for these set unless I can get great use out of them.  Mermaid-inspired mani here I come!!

Happy Independence Day!

Just a quick post tonight because I'm sure you are all watching fireworks or popping your own.  I won't be because I have an early work day tomorrow.  Just be safe and be responsible this evening.  I want to see you all back here tomorrow.  (:
Basically I just recreated the American flag on my nails and eventhough my lines are a little crooked (I free-handed them), I think it came out pretty great.

WHAT I USED:
OPI Big Apple Red
Ulta Blue Streak
UO Silver Holo
Bundle Monster plate BM20

Happy 4th!!

OPI Shatter the Scales

Everyone knows I love shatters and crackles of all brands and colors so of course I had to buy another.  And of all things to consider, it's GREEN!
This is OPI Shatter the Scales from the Spiderman Collection.  It is a dark, hunter green shatter with lots of shimmer.  I wanted to put it over something awesome so I used Urban Outfitter Silver Holo, but when I added the top coat, it went pretty blah.  I should know better by now than to add a top coat to my holos.  It just takes them so long to "recover" and regain that holo-y goodness.
There isn't really much to say about this polish except that it's awesome!  When I buy some shatters/crackles, they don't always crack nicely, but one thing I've noticed about all the ones I own...OPI has the best ones IMO.  They always crack quickly and have such a great pattern.  I've seen some others that don't have as wide of gaps when they spread.  It just makes it difficult to see the polish underneath and well, isn't that the point?
I know most bloggers are on either side of the fence with these.  How do you feel about shatters/crackles?  What are your favorite brands and color combos?  Leave all your comments in the box below!  (:

NYE Mani

Happy New Year's Eve!

First of all, I want everyone that's going out tonight to be super safe and drink responsibly.  I want you to have fun and I wish you the best in 2013.

Second of all, I'm staying in tonight.  That's what happens when you have to be at work at 5am all week.  You don't even get to see what midnight looks like.  However, I don't like to party or go out.  I'm a definite homebody so I just did my nails instead.
Soooo, I'm not entirely happy with it.  I think it looks a little too much like zebra print, and I hate zebra print. No offense to those that do, it's just not for me.  What it really is is a water marble.  My first water marble in a long, long time.  I guess if I had a 2013 resolution for my blog, it would be for me to bring back Water Marble Wednesday.  I will be participating in The New 31 Day Challenge starting tomorrow, but February looks promising.
WHAT I USED:
Zoya Trixie - base color
UO Silver Holo - holo marble and stamp
Zoya Storm - black marble
Bundle Monster plate bm-209

Have a great night!

Urban Outfitters Silver Holo

Hello Readers and Happy Wednesday!

This week is half over!  Yea!!  lol  Today I have a super gorgeous holo that has become quite popular lately.  I mean who knew that Urban Outfitters would have such amazing polish.  When I worked there we didn't even have polish.  So yeah, here we go.

Yeah, I know!  Awesome right?  I only own about 4 holos (not a lot I know), but these are by far my favorite that I've seen.  I used 2 coats for these photos when I really only needed 1 for non-blog wear.
Here's one more for the road.  Your welcome!  ;)

Oh and I wanted to show Green Holo with this one (those are the only two I bought), but my sis borrowed it.  She kept telling me how gorgeous it is (uh duh!) so I told her to take it, but I think I might just buy another bottle and she can keep it.  We'll see.  Have a great night and get ready for an awesome post tomorrow.

Pure Ice Pardon My French (pic heavy)

OMG!  I feel like I have been gone for so long.  I had so much to do since the weekend, and it's only Wednesday.  Let's see.  What's new with me?  I dyed my hair on Sunday so no more blinding, fiery red.  Now it's a plum kind of color.  It was an accidental blessing for sure.  Monday I went to see Marina and the Diamonds for the third time, but it just gets better and better each time.  If you are into "electro-pop," you need to see her.  She's my fave and amazing!  I even have a tattoo for her.  Yesterday, I went to my Paw Paw's house to decorate for Christmas.  He hasn't decorated in 8 years since his wife died, so I was so happy that I could do this for him, and then we had a lovely dinner of salad and frozen pizza.  lol.  Today I had to do last minute Christmas shopping, and now I am all yours.  Well my nails are anyway.

I knew that whatever I had for you today had to be good since I've been MIA, so I came up with Pure Ice Pardon My French.

So after rifling through the 50+ photos of this beauty, I settled on these three.  I think they show off how amazing it is the best.  Pardon My French is a black base with rose gold glitter in two different sizes: tiny and hex.  The glitter is saturated throughout that I didn't have to fish anything out of the bottle and it covered in 2 coats.  The formula is a little on the thick side but completely manageable.  I am so happy I didn't pass this up.  I told myself at Walmart to just put it back, but I knew I didn't have anything like it, AND it was the very last bottle.  No mistakes made here!  So then I decided to just play around with stamping and go crazy so here ya go.

Here is just used Wet 'n' Wild French White Creme and my Konad m13 plate to stamp (very crooked but) adorable little skulls on each nail.

Holy Cow!  Yeah!  Here I used my brand spankin' new Urban Outfitters Silver Holo and Bundle Monster plate bm11.  I mean enough said, right?!  I know that it's crooked and a little sloppy since I was just having fun, but man.  That holo is blinding and AMAZING!

Oh and I'll leave you with a video of Marina and the Diamonds.  Why?  Just for the hell of it, and because I'm still in the "after glow" from Monday's show.  lol
I want you all to have a great night and sleep well!
